Mall Day

Mall day is the day where we try our robot on the field. This day happens on the fifth week of the competition, on a Saturday. Teams get to test their robot on the field, see how it performs, and makes changes to it as necessary. Our robot already had the arms on it, and was in functioning order. We tested to see how much our drivers could accomplish within the 3 minute time period. We learned that the CO2 was lowered to 35 inches, and we were disappointed. Our telescoping arm had been designed to reach over 5 foot, to reach the CO2, and un-velcro it.

Changes after Mall Day

We discussed the ball kicker and the molding. The blue balls went under the robot because the robot was too tall. To remedy this we needed something around the ball kicker. We decided that out of the available materials that polycarbonate would be the best. We also discussed what to do about the second arm because it wouldn’t reach high enough or far enough out. To remedy this we raised the mounting bracket and made the arm came back down then out. The telescoping arm was moving too slow. To speed it up we added more to the diameter of the shaft.
